Brief Description

Having an online presence makes a library/organisation globally accessible. This might sometimes result in international collaboration – in person or virtually. It is therefore important to interpret differences in location (maps) and time (time zones). Learn how to interpret time zones, setup an event across time zones, and work with online calendars. These tools not only for global collaboration, but also to use when planning local events, or to address other needs. Where your library/organisation does not have a web page, at least add it to an existing online map and add the basic contact details, to create a better awareness.

Expected Outcomes

After completing this course, the delegates will be able to:

  • Read & interpret online maps & map applications (apps);
  • Understand coordinates;
  • Add a new location (e.g. for library) to an online map;
  • Add information & photos about the library to the online map;
  • Create own online maps;
  • Share directions via an online map;
  • Create a wiki entry for a library;
  • Embed maps as part of other media;
  • Interpret time zones, and setup an event across time zones; and
  • Create an online calendar, populate & share it.
